About the position

The Biostatistician Data Manager will provide expert biostatistical support to the Brain Health Equity Unit at the National Institute on Aging, NIH. This role involves statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of data from community-based cohort studies, contributing to research led by Dr. Indira Turney. The position requires independent work in statistical analysis and collaboration with research teams to ensure robust study designs and reliable results.

Responsibilities

  • Provide biostatistical expertise for the research study.
  • Enter and verify data fields and data dictionaries.
  • Write statistical sections in manuscripts and interpret referees' comments on manuscripts.
  • Analyze, interpret, communicate, and document epidemiologic data and results.
  • Write code to execute data analysis and visualize results.
  • Perform descriptive and missing data analysis.
  • Conduct data cleaning and transformation.
  • Lead the development of study protocols and statistical analysis plans.
  • Perform complex statistical analyses using R, SPSS, and other software.
  • Conduct hypothesis testing and design statistical approaches for research aims.
  • Prepare clear and concise statistical reports for diverse audiences.
  • Consult with staff on statistical methods for study aims.
  • Provide literature reviews related to analyses used in comparable studies.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources into SAS data sets.
  • Research and analyze new developments in biostatistical methods.
  • Collaborate with investigators to design studies and identify statistical methods.
  • Advise research teams on data collection and analysis methods.
  • Provide statistical leadership and training to research staff and junior team members.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Skilled in statistical software such as R, Mplus, SPSS, and other statistical computing software.
  • Extensive experience in applying statistical methods to public health, epidemiology, or clinical research.
  • Proficiency in advanced statistical methods such as mediation models, multilevel analysis, causal inference, or longitudinal analysis.
  • Experience leading statistical contributions to publications, with a demonstrated ability to serve as lead author.
