About the position

Albert Einstein College of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Masters-level biostatistician to join the Research team within the Departments of Surgery and Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. The primary responsibilities will be to help develop and collaborate with investigators on studies related to emerging surgical technology and evaluating surgical techniques, devices, and subsequent outcomes. This role is crucial in managing, analyzing, and reporting epidemiological, clinical, laboratory, and electronic health records data. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, fellows, and residents, providing assistance on grant proposals, papers, and presentations. Specific duties include conducting statistical analysis of research data for publications, grant proposals, regulatory reports, and presentations in collaboration with investigators. The biostatistician will facilitate the preparation of conference abstracts, develop manuscripts for publication, and assist in the preparation of grant proposals. Additionally, the candidate will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with troubleshooting by running analyses, cleaning, and preparing datasets. Ensuring the quality and integrity of data collection, maintenance, and reporting through regular analysis, cleaning, and audits is essential to guarantee that the data collected are complete and accurate. The biostatistician will oversee database enhancement projects, working collaboratively with research staff, PIs, software developers, and data scientists. They will manage data requests from external sources and collaborators and investigate novel statistical methods when appropriate and necessary. Maintaining confidentiality of participant data in accordance with Institutional Review Board and federal policies is a critical aspect of this role, as is handling the secure transmission of patient data both within the institution and to external approved collaborators.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduate level training in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, population health sciences, public health, medicine or related field is required.
  • Completed graduate training at Master's level or beyond is required.
  • Statistics; computing skills using SAS and other standard software; collaborative research experience in a biomedical research environment; ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
