As a Biostatistician in Abbott's medical device clinical research organization, you will play a crucial role in providing statistical expertise that supports the design and analysis of clinical studies. This position requires a high level of proficiency in statistical methods and the ability to communicate complex statistical concepts clearly to both scientific and non-scientific audiences. You will work under limited supervision, collaborating with clinical study teams to ensure the integrity and quality of clinical trial data. Your contributions will include writing statistical analysis plans, validating statistical analyses, and preparing comprehensive reports that adhere to Abbott's guidelines. This role is not only about applying statistical knowledge but also about ensuring that the scientific integrity of clinical trials is maintained throughout the research process. You will have the opportunity to influence the design of clinical studies and contribute to the development of innovative medical devices that can change lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide statistical input into clinical study design, endpoints, hypotheses tests and sample size calculations.
  • Write statistical sections of protocols and statistical analysis plans.
  • Provide input into data collection forms (Case Report Forms) and data management plans.
  • Ensure scientific integrity and data quality of clinical trials are preserved.
  • Prepare statistical reports or statistical sections of clinical study reports.
  • Interpret statistical results and generate line listings for regulatory reporting as appropriate.
  • Validate statistical analyses conducted by statistical peers or colleagues.
  • Identify and correct common flaws in interpretation of results and ensure adherence to Abbott report guidelines.
  • Communicate an understanding of basic clinical principles and act in accordance with those principles.
  • Provide accurate and timely answers to routine questions from clients and pursue analyses suggested by the data.

Requirements

  • Masters in statistics or biostatistics with a minimum of 2-5+ years of experience or Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics with 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with SAS is required; experience with R, Winbugs, JMP, NCSS PASS and other statistical software are a plus.
  • Able to write/describe statistical models of moderate complexity.
  • Knowledge of Bayesian and/or adaptive design methods and data mining are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 2-5+ years of experience in medical device Clinical Research role is preferred.
