About the position

The Biostatistician SME at ABSS Solutions, Inc. plays a crucial role in providing medical research support to the 59th Medical Wing in San Antonio, Texas. This position involves developing statistical strategies to draw scientific conclusions from data, ensuring the application of appropriate statistical methodologies, and providing biostatistical consultation for various research projects. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of statistical analysis and the ability to communicate findings effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies using statistical analysis to draw scientific conclusions or predictions based on data summaries.
  • Determine applicable statistical methodologies based on knowledge of hypothesis tests and modeling techniques.
  • Develop detailed data and process models.
  • Provide biostatistical consultation to Principal Investigators (PIs) or colleagues.
  • Coordinate database preparation for data analysis, including data transformation assessments.
  • Prepare written analysis plans and descriptions of analyses and findings for research protocols or reports.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of clinical or survey data using various statistical approaches.
  • Review clinical or medical research protocols and recommend appropriate statistical analyses.
  • Prepare statistical data for inclusion in reports for regulatory agencies and project managers.
  • Calculate sample size requirements for clinical studies.
  • Determine project plans, timelines, or technical objectives for statistical aspects of biological research studies.
  • Translate statistical information into relevant documents for publication by investigators.
  • Prepare written synthesis of analysis results for research manuscripts, presentations, and reports.
  • Assess the adequacy of data presentation and research project objectives.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Statistics required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in biomedical and laboratory management within the last 9 years, preferably in clinical research and medical data analysis.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS and SAS.
  • Experience with Linux and bioinformatics is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in regression analysis and life table analysis.
  • Familiarity with time series analysis and instrument validation procedures.
