About the position

The Biostatistician at Scripps Research will provide advanced statistical expertise and support to researchers and faculty, participating in the design, development, and reporting of research studies. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting biological data while fostering collaborations across various research entities within the institute.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, implement, and report findings on targeted statistical research studies.
  • Provide consultation to investigators on experimental design and statistical research approaches.
  • Formalize analysis plans and reporting specifications with investigators.
  • Advise on statistical analysis strategies and interpretation of results.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships across disciplines.
  • Assist in the preparation of clinical trial documents and reports.
  • Use advanced statistical software to analyze and interpret research data.
  • Develop enhancements to statistical software and maintain knowledge of statistical analysis trends.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree in applied Biostatistics or Biological data science with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Experience in research statistics, model development, regression analysis, and statistical tests.
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing statistical plans and providing analysis for experimental datasets, preferably in genomic or single-cell studies.
  • Experience working at research institutions is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with R and R packages is required; experience in Python scripting is helpful.
  • Experience with other statistical software such as JMP is a plus.
  • Exceptional candidates with backgrounds bridging biological science and biostatistics will be considered.
