About the position

The Biostatistician position at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) involves leading statistical research and development efforts to support human health assessments related to environmental exposures. The role requires an internationally recognized expert who can merge statistical research techniques with applications in biology, epidemiology, and physical science. The position is situated within the Chemical and Pollutant Assessment Division (CPAD) of the Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment (CPHEA), focusing on developing risk assessment products and providing technical support to various EPA programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to statistical multidisciplinary teams for human health assessments.
• Determine statistical methods and perform analysis of biological or human data for risk assessments.
• Identify cross-cutting issues and develop new quantitative approaches.
• Provide consultations and rapid analyses in response to agency needs and inquiries.
• Manage extramural grants and contracts related to research.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field with at least 24 hours of statistics or biostatistics coursework.
• Five years of experience in statistical research and applications relevant to risk assessment.
• Demonstrated leadership in biometric and statistical risk assessment or statistical research applications.
• Extensive publication record in high-quality journals and significant accomplishments in statistical research.
