About the position

The Biotherapeutics Intern at Boehringer Ingelheim will engage in hands-on learning and implementation of experimental designs to optimize HEK stable cell lines expressing soluble proteins. The role involves transfection techniques, cell line expansion, and pilot production and purification of proteins, alongside analytical techniques for cell line characterization. This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to the discovery and development of biotherapeutic products while gaining valuable experience in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop experience with mammalian cell culture (HEK293, CHO, Raji, NK92, and THP1)
  • Develop expertise in SDS-PAGE and Western Blot for expression characterization
  • Generate stable cell lines using transposase technology followed by small scale expression and batch binding purification
  • Gain experience with cellular assay readouts and analysis

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cell biology and working with cell lines
  • Some analytical knowledge and skills for cell lines, recombinant proteins and cellular assays
