About the position

The Program Manager for Orthopedic Trauma at Hartford Hospital plays a crucial role in implementing and managing strategic initiatives within the Orthopedic/Orthopedic Trauma Service Line. This position is integral to the growth and development of the service line, focusing on enhancing patient care, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and leading quality improvement initiatives. The Program Manager collaborates with various stakeholders, including surgeons and nurse navigators, to optimize patient experiences and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Physician Service Line leader and Orthopedic Surgeons to facilitate Service Line Meetings focused on operations, clinical excellence, and patient experience.
  • Act as a trauma liaison to ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) guidelines.
  • Work with Nurse Navigators to enhance patient experience and ensure safe patient care through strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Fragility Hip Fracture, including data validation with the Data Analytics Team.
  • Support quality and safety initiatives to meet regulatory requirements from the Department of Public Health, CMS, and Joint Commission.
  • Lead and coordinate quality improvement initiatives and process improvements with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Onboard Orthopedic Residents and new surgeons, providing education and guidelines overview.
  • Support data quality, coding compliance, and registry requirements for the Fracture Trauma Registry (FTR).
  • Ensure proper capture of Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) on selected virtual platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or a related Master's degree (MPH, MHA, etc.) if not a clinician (RN, Pharm, PT).
  • At least three years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Previous experience in regulatory and Joint Commission accreditation processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau).
  • Valid CT RN License or related clinical field certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • At least five years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Knowledge of clinical operational management.
  • ONC, CNOR, or related certifications.
