About the position

The Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring boilers in compliance with New Jersey Boiler and Pressure Vessel standards. This part-time role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to state regulations, while also providing training and oversight to subordinate operators.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boilers in compliance with New Jersey Boiler and Pressure Vessel Compliance standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of boilers and associated equipment, addressing any issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).
• Keep detailed and accurate records of boiler operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Enforce and adhere to New Jersey safety protocols, including routine safety checks and emergency procedures.
• Provide training to boiler operators on compliance with New Jersey regulations.
• Coordinate and oversee the work of subordinate operators.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in boiler systems, coordinating with maintenance teams.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of boiler operations in line with New Jersey's energy efficiency standards.
• Recommend adjustments or upgrades to equipment.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans for equipment failures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training in boiler operations is a plus.
• Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operator License issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
• Six months in boiler operation and maintenance, with expertise in systems covered by the Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operator License.
• In-depth knowledge of boiler systems, controls, and associated equipment in accordance with New Jersey regulations.
• Familiarity with New Jersey's safety standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
