About the position

The Bldg & Asset Security Analyst position is crucial for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of Life Safety, Building Automation, Critical Systems, and associated equipment at APC and SCS Facilities across the State. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including software development and customization, maintenance, and providing technical expertise in support of the applications within the Facilities Services Department. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of the application lifecycle, which includes analysis, design, construction, implementation, testing, commissioning, and other related project management tasks. In this role, the analyst will work closely with system/application developers and TO administrators to design, implement, tune, and troubleshoot system and database solutions for new projects, enhancements to existing solutions, and the implementation of purchased vendor packages. Coordination with developers and infrastructure support groups is essential for operating system upgrades, software upgrades, migrations, and hardware replacements. The analyst will also act as the primary point of contact for emergencies impacting various systems, including Siemens Life Safety Systems, Siemens ApoGee, Trane Building Automation, Software House Ccure Security Access Controls, and Avigilon CCTV Systems at APC and SCS Facilities across the State. Additionally, the analyst will conduct research on available and emerging system technologies to recommend, implement, and oversee upgrades to critical systems. They will support software and databases related to the Archibus work order management system and utilize Predictive Maintenance technologies to evaluate and diagnose maintenance needs. The role requires consulting with outside agencies and experts to gather and analyze systems, learn and apply best practices, and benchmark expert opinions. The analyst will also maintain the departmental MOBI application and provide system administration for critical control and monitoring systems used by Facilities Services.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary point of contact for emergencies impacting Siemens Life Safety Systems, Siemens ApoGee, Trane Building Automation, Software House Ccure Security Access Controls, and Avigilon CCTV Systems.
  • Conduct research on available and emerging system technologies to recommend, implement, and oversee upgrades to critical systems.
  • Support software and databases related to the Archibus work order management system.
  • Use Predictive Maintenance technologies to evaluate and diagnose maintenance needs and make recommendations.
  • Consult with outside agencies and experts to gather and analyze systems and apply best practices.
  • Maintain departmental MOBI application.
  • Anticipate, identify, and mitigate systems risk and exposures, providing timely responses when incidents occur.
  • Provide system administration for critical control and monitoring systems used by Facilities Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or associates Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant education or certifications preferred.
  • NICET level III or above including EST3, Siemens XLS knowledge and experience preferred.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Siemens (APOGEE, ALS3, XLS) and Trane's (Synchrony) digital control systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems (CYSCO) including WLANs, voice and data network systems, IP addressing, and naming.
  • Resident expert on communication protocols (BACNET, MODBUS, and LONWORKS).
  • Experience with Ccure Servers/Systems across the Southern Company.
  • Experience with EATON'S Foreseer Systems Class D and Class E.
  • Knowledge of elevator controls (Motion Controls, iMonitor, BMS-LINK/JACE Interface, Niagara).
  • General understanding of budgets and capable of learning about budgeting and accounting processes.
  • Experience in Windows OS implementation, backup, and recovery processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical studies, financial impacts, and customer requirements.
