About the position

The Asia Geoeconomics Analyst at Bloomberg Economics will focus on the intersection of geopolitics, economics, and markets in East Asia. This role involves conducting both short-term and long-term research projects to provide insights into how geopolitical events impact the global economy and markets. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of specialists and represent Bloomberg at various client events, contributing to a deeper understanding of economic and policy trends in the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead research projects analyzing the impact of East Asian geopolitics on the global economy and markets.
• Conduct quick analyses of breaking news related to geopolitical events with economic implications.
• Develop and build data sets and models to understand the interaction between geopolitics, national politics, and economics in East Asia.
• Collaborate with Bloomberg's economic and government reporters on joint projects.
• Represent the team at client events and on Bloomberg media platforms.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in geopolitics of East Asia.
• Expertise in the intersection of geopolitics, economic statecraft, and financial markets.
• Degree in political science, international relations, regional studies, economics, or a related field; a graduate degree is a plus.
• Strong writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience living or working in East Asia.
• Strong proficiency in Chinese or another major regional language, with fluency preferred.
• Experience in government or international institutions focusing on East Asia.
• Experience generating content in various formats, from rapid responses to collaborative research.
• Expertise in critical and emerging technology, military studies, international trade, or geo-economics analysis.
