Bloomberg Economics - Asia Geoeconomics Analyst

About the position

The Asia Geoeconomics Analyst at Bloomberg will focus on the intersection of geopolitics, economics, and markets in East Asia. This role involves conducting both short-term and long-term research projects to provide insights into how geopolitical events impact the global economy and markets. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of specialists to deliver high-quality analysis and forecasts for Bloomberg Terminal clients, helping them navigate complex economic landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the team's knowledge on geopolitics, economics, and markets in East Asia.
• Develop and execute independent research projects while supporting collaborative efforts.
• Represent the team at client events and on Bloomberg media platforms as needed.
• Collaborate with Bloomberg's economic and government reporters on joint research projects.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in geopolitics of East Asia.
• Expertise in the intersection of geopolitics, economic statecraft, and financial markets.
• Degree in political science, international relations, regional studies, economics, or a related field; a graduate degree is a plus.
• Strong writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in English and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience living or working in East Asia.
• Proficiency in Chinese or another major regional language, with fluency preferred.
• Experience in government or international institutions focused on East Asia.
• Experience generating diverse content formats, from rapid responses to collaborative research.
• Expertise in technology, political science, economics, military studies, international trade, or geo-economics.
