About the position

The position involves performing various operator roles in a plant production environment, demonstrating proficiency in processes, procedures, and equipment. The role requires problem-solving skills and the ability to assist others with operator activities and production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of line duties within the manufacturing environment, including highly skilled processing and machine operator jobs.
• Clean, set-up, operate, and monitor equipment on the production line.
• Ensure that the proper materials are used for each product being produced.
• Complete all required documentation and scheduled quality checks.
• Review charts, screens, quality check sheets, and specifications in both hard copy and electronic format.
• Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks to maintain plant equipment and complete cleaning checklists after production runs.
• Prepare equipment for the next run, including size changes as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complicated operating difficulties.
• Maintain communication with other departments, supervisors, and employees regarding production efficiency.
• Ensure all paperwork is filled out clearly and accurately, documenting required information according to SOPs.
• Review process data and equipment performance data to improve quality and troubleshoot issues.
• Assist with training efforts in the functional area as needed.
• Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and comply with corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 4 years of manufacturing/production experience, preferably in the dairy or consumer goods industry.
• Certification and/or License may be required during the course of employment.
• Considerable knowledge of plant operations.
• Proficiency with company computer systems.
• Ability to operate production equipment and components.
• Ability to take initiative and seek increased responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to find solutions to problems without constant supervision.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
