About the position

The University of Minnesota's Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty position at open rank. The role focuses on developing a robust research program in areas such as Cardiovascular Engineering, NeuroEngineering, and Cancer/Immune Bioengineering, with an emphasis on large data analysis, systems, and synthetic biology, particularly integrating AI. The successful candidate will also engage in teaching and mentoring a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students, especially Ph.D. candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a robust externally-funded research program in Biomedical Engineering.
  • Initiate interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects.
  • Engage in scholarly publication and contribute to the academic community.
  • Teach and advise undergraduate and graduate students, with a focus on Ph.D. students.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong preference for adjacent training in computer science.
  • Demonstrated expertise and accomplishments in BME/bioengineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in large data analysis and systems biology.
  • Familiarity with synthetic biology and AI integration.
