About the position
The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET I) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and testing a variety of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with technical standards and regulations. This role requires a strong background in electronics and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot complex medical systems. The technician will work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and safely, contributing to the overall quality of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and test biomedical equipment in accordance with OEM technical compliance.
- Diagnose malfunctions and repair electronic equipment such as electrocardiographs and defibrillators.
- Interpret technical data including drawings, schematics, and blueprints of electronic systems.
- Solve technical and performance problems for complex electronic systems.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with healthcare staff.
- Ensure compliance with regulations from organizations such as the Department of Defense and FDA.
Requirements
- At least five (5) years of experience as a biomedical equipment technician.
- Formal training in Biomedical Engineering Technology from a university, trade school, or military training.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of specialized methods and techniques of electronics and medical systems.
- Practical knowledge of electronic circuits and components.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with complex medical systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense and Joint Commission regulations.
- Ability to use standard computers and software for data management.
