About the position

The BMS Lead Systems Engineer will oversee the development of battery management systems (BMS) and related embedded electronics for energy system products. This role involves executing all system engineering activities from requirements development to integration and verification, ensuring compatibility of hardware, software, and mechanical interfaces with overall system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define, guide, and partially execute all system engineering activities along the V-cycle in alignment with system, hardware, and software teams.
  • Derive system requirements for platform BMS solutions based on overall product system architecture.
  • Develop BMS architectures and drive the creation of the hardware-software interface in alignment with hardware and software teams.
  • Align hardware and software requirements with related engineering domains.
  • Develop a system-level BMS integration and verification strategy and support overall product system integration.
  • Align the maturity of platform system engineering outcomes with application engineering project needs.
  • Focus on design to cost, design to manufacture, and time to market.
  • Contribute to the definition and maintenance of a platform roadmap.
  • Define and advance system engineering processes, guidelines, and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in embedded systems, electronics, and software engineering including product launch.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the development of automotive battery systems or battery management systems.
  • Profound knowledge and experience in functional safety for automotive embedded systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience in automotive cybersecurity.
  • Experience in systems engineering according to industry and automotive standards (ISO 26262, ISO 15288; certification is a plus, e.g., INCOSE CSEP).
  • Experience and confidence in the use of requirements and system engineering tools (e.g., Jama, Cameo System Modeler).
  • Experience in agile development.
