About the position

Richelieu Hardware is seeking an Outside Sales Representative specializing in Board and Panel products to join our team in the Detroit, Michigan metro area. This role is pivotal in managing the overall relationship and day-to-day sales activities towards cabinet and furniture manufacturers within the designated territory. The successful candidate will engage in structured consultative sales discussions, positioning themselves as a business advisor to customers, thereby enabling them to solve problems and enhance their business results. This position is not just about selling; it’s about building a thriving business by increasing Board and Panel product sales and establishing oneself as an indispensable resource for customers. The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for scheduling and conducting face-to-face meetings with both new and existing customers, gaining insights into their business needs and demonstrating how Richelieu's product solutions can improve their outcomes. Accountability for the growth of the territory is crucial, which includes acquiring new customers and nurturing existing relationships. The representative will analyze past buying patterns of current accounts and strategize on becoming a more inclusive supplier. Providing a state-of-the-art customer service experience is essential, as is staying informed about Richelieu's product offerings and market conditions. Additionally, the role requires maintaining system information and reporting through a CRM application. The position may involve physical demands such as lifting, pushing, or carrying items up to 50 pounds, and working in environments with fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals. Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall relationship and day-to-day sales activities towards cabinet and furniture manufacturers in the territory.
  • Increase Board and Panel product sales as a specialist in those categories, selling directly and partnered with others.
  • Schedule and hold face-to-face meetings with new and existing customers to understand their business needs.
  • Maintain accountability for the growth of the territory through new customer acquisition and development of existing relationships.
  • Identify and analyze past buying patterns of current accounts to enhance supplier relationships.
  • Provide a state-of-the-art customer service experience, positioning Richelieu as a one-stop shop.
  • Educate oneself on Richelieu's product offerings and stay updated with market conditions and competitive analysis.
  • Hold responsibility for system information and reporting in the CRM application.

Requirements

  • Successful outside sales experience with wood panels, laminates, and boards, ideally in the kitchen and/or bath space.
  • Passionate, proactive, and coachable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to schedule and manage time effectively to deliver results.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizing, and monitoring skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is an asset.
  • University degree preferred, but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the kitchen and bath industry.
  • Familiarity with sales strategies and techniques specific to the hardware industry.
