About the position
The State Board of Nursing is seeking a Paralegal to join their Division of Professional Registration. This full-time position involves supporting the Board's legal functions by drafting legal documents, maintaining files, conducting legal research, and assisting attorneys in preparation for hearings. The role is set in a fast-paced and positive office environment, promoting effective communication and self-motivation among team members.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, agreements, and correspondence.
- Obtain, review, and process court documents while maintaining files and docket systems.
- Compile data as requested by the Board's attorney or executive director.
- Perform legal research and prepare memoranda stating facts and conclusions of research.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings.
- Prepare disciplinary orders and compose correspondence involving the interpretation of agency rules, regulations, and program responsibility.
- Maintain a filing system and prepare records for digital imaging.
Requirements
- Associate degree in paralegal studies or closely related field, or five or more years of experience in a legal environment.
- One to three years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in reviewing official documents.
- Paralegal certification is required.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
