About the position

The Board Relations Manager at Florida International University (FIU) is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with the Board of Advisors, industry partners, and stakeholders. This role serves as the primary liaison between the school and its external constituents, fostering strategic partnerships and advancing the school's mission and goals. The manager oversees all activities related to the boards at the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, ensuring effective management of board meetings and serving as the main point of contact for board members.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with the Board of Advisors, industry partners, and stakeholders.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the school and its external constituents.
  • Oversees and organizes all activities and objectives for all boards at the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
  • Manages day-to-day activities, including all aspects of board meetings and involvement.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality for all sensitive information and handles delicate matters with discretion.
  • Provides timely responses to questions and concerns from board members and refers them to other organizational leaders as needed.
  • Ensures timely collection of annual board dues and active pledge commitments/donations.
  • Prepares necessary documents for processing expenses related to board events and gifts.
  • Implements all board meetings, subcommittee meetings, and events throughout the year.
  • Leads board member orientation and ongoing board development activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of governance best practices and makes recommendations for incorporation.
  • Drafts correspondence to board members and reviews communications from the Dean.
  • Tracks and communicates information for all board meetings, including attendance and schedules.
  • Supports board member and visitor tours, lunches, and meetings in collaboration with the dean and development team.
  • Works with the Office of Advancement to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Administers the process for maintaining and archiving all files and correspondence with board members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and four (4) years related business or administrative experience, or Master's degree in business or related field and two (2) years related business or administrative experience.
  • Experience supervising a team and/or project.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $58,882 - $60,000.
  • Flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
