If you feel the same way we do and have clinical experience, this job might be just right for you! Boarding Assistants perform tasks that make pets staying with us safe and comfortable. They have direct contact with patients and co-workers and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Essential Functions Boarding Assistants work under the supervision of a department supervisor. The primary responsibilities for a Boarding Assistant include feeding, cleaning, exercising, medicating, bathing, and caring for patients. This work includes, but is not limited to: Walking through the kennel areas, checking each animal individually for any abnormal activity such as vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in the cage or run. Reporting all abnormal activity to leads and doctors. Recognizing emergency situations and enlisting the aid of doctors and technicians. Marking journals correctly for eating and drinking, and fecal and urine production. Performing treatments (feeding, watering, medicating, check off lists, etc) according to the Electronic Whiteboard, and marking them complete on the Electronic Whiteboard. Cleaning and disinfecting cages, runs, and yards as needed using hoses and spray bottles of disinfectant. Using a squeegee to remove excess water. Cleaning cat litter boxes and disinfecting kitty condos. Cleaning and disinfecting all food and water bowls. Giving boarding pets baths as needed. Moving animals to the exercise yard so that the runs can be disinfected; returning the animal to the correct run after the cleaning is complete and run is clean and dry. Picking up soiled bedding and moving it to the laundry area. Placing clean bedding in run with animals. Operating washer and dryer to clean kennel bedding and hospital laundry. Performing baths and brush-outs as needed. Cross-training in treatment area to perform the same duties. Recording pet belongings on E-Whiteboard orders.
