About the position

The Body Electronic Modules Core Hardware Design Release Engineer at Ford Motor Company is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and testing of body module components that support various vehicle functionalities. This role involves ensuring product deliverables meet quality standards and are deployed effectively across targeted vehicle programs, contributing to advancements in automotive technology.

Responsibilities

  • Specify the design and oversee the development and testing of body module components.
  • Lead interface to clarify Ford requirements with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct vehicle system compatibility reviews and lead troubleshooting efforts for product-related issues.
  • Release core Body/Zonal Module parts and Diagnostic Specification within Ford's Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS).
  • Support Body Module/Zonal Module application engineers globally and investigate feasibility of new features affecting Body Module hardware.
  • Analyze design options for cost, quality, and reliability trade-offs.
  • Oversee the development and release of Engineering Test Specifications and EMC test plans.
  • Prepare design verification and process validation test plans, ensuring compliance to specifications.
  • Lead design review meetings and perform reliability evaluations of components using established procedures.
  • Interface with a multi-disciplinary team to discuss existing and potential new projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronic circuit design or similar experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in electronic circuit design or similar experience preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office, Vector tools such as CANalyzer, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience reading automotive electrical distribution schematics.
  • Understanding of EMC specifications and mitigation techniques.
  • Proficient in laboratory test equipment setup and use.
