About the position

The Body Shop Estimator is responsible for assessing vehicle damage, preparing repair estimates, and ensuring that all repairs meet quality standards. This role requires strong communication skills and a solid understanding of auto body repair processes, vehicle maintenance, and service writing. The estimator will work closely with customers and service technicians to manage expectations and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate damaged vehicles and determine the necessary repairs required to restore them to pre-accident condition.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for repairs, including parts and labor costs, using industry-standard software.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding the assessment findings and repair options available.
  • Collaborate with service technicians and mechanics to ensure accurate repair processes are followed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of auto body repair techniques, vehicle maintenance requirements, and industry trends.
  • Manage customer expectations throughout the repair process, providing updates as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations within the body shop environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in auto body repair or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong skills in service writing and preparing detailed estimates for repairs.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance practices and auto service management principles.
  • Knowledge of specific repair techniques including brake repair, shocks struts replacement, and general mechanic skills is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
