About the position

The Body Shop Technician at First Student is responsible for inspecting and repairing body damage on vehicles, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards. This role involves using various tools to perform repairs, documenting all actions taken, and providing estimates for repair work. The technician will work in a supportive environment that emphasizes safety, training, and career advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect body damage to determine feasibility and best method of repairs.
  • Perform damaged sheet metal and body repairs using hand and power tools.
  • Remove, install, adjust, and align body components.
  • Repair locks, latches, and other accessory body parts as needed.
  • Document all repair and maintenance actions on Work Orders, including parts and materials used, time expended, and pertinent comments.
  • Ensure vehicle security and safety while in the shop.
  • Adhere to all governmental rules and shop safety practices relating to operation of shop tools and use of personal safety devices.
  • Follow all environmental practices regarding proper handling and disposal of all waste streams.
  • Provide written estimates of repair when requested.
  • Communicate and adhere to Injury Prevention (IP) standards.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Auto Body & Collision Damage repair education.
  • Previous work experience in an auto body repair is preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Accepting all Apprentice level Technicians.
