About the position

The Boeing Research & Technology Graduate Researcher position is a summer internship program designed for PhD students, focusing on guidance, navigation, control, and autonomy. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world industry experience while contributing to innovative aerospace technologies. Interns will work closely with experienced engineers on research and development challenges, with the potential for future employment upon completion of their studies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and development to mature technologies in guidance, navigation, flight controls, and autonomy.
  • Analyze and develop solutions to complex problems with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Engage in dynamic system modeling and simulation, control system design, and analysis methods.
  • Conduct experiment design, testing, and results analysis, preparing reports and presentations.
  • Participate in GRP programming, including mentorship, speaker talks, and innovation challenges.

Requirements

  • Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2025.
  • Experience with dynamic system modeling, control system design, estimation, optimization, and advanced mathematics.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, C or C++, and object-oriented design.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI, and probabilistic reasoning is a plus.
  • PhD candidate in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
