About the position

The Staff Accountant position at a non-profit financial institution in Orlando, FL, involves maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization. The role requires applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller with daily, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department, including grant management and budget analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization.
  • Assist the Controller with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department.
  • Process and record accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate payment of invoices and staff reimbursements.
  • Manage the loan administration process, ensuring accurate reporting of customer accounts.
  • Record revenue and receivables, ensuring reconciliation with QuickBooks and TEA data system.
  • Record fees and expenses for contracts and grants, managing supporting documents for reports to government agencies and private investors.
  • Schedule, prepare, and submit reports for all contracts on time to ensure compliance.
  • Review expense coding for grant compliance and tag eligible costs to restricted grants and contracts monthly.
  • Review and process Charge Card Expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders monthly.
  • Process functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, and fixed assets depreciation, recording adjusting and reclassification journal entries as necessary.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports per program and department.
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements and employer's benefit costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and interim grant financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Associate's degree in accounting or related field.
