About the position

The Bookkeeper position at Ledgent Finance & Accounting focuses on maintaining accurate financial records for construction projects. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Bookkeeper will also assist in financial reporting and vendor management, utilizing specialized accounting software tailored for the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries for construction-related expenses.
• Track and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable related to construction projects.
• Assist with tracking project costs and compare actual costs to budgeted estimates.
• Update and manage project-specific financial reports, including labor and material costs.
• Process payroll for construction employees, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Prepare and issue invoices for clients based on project milestones.
• Monitor payment collections from clients and follow up on overdue invoices.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
• Process and track payments to vendors and subcontractors.
• Assist with tax-related documentation and compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.
• At least 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction.
• Understanding of job costing, construction billing, and labor tracking.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Procore, Sage, or similar).
• Strong Excel skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and vendors.
• Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve financial issues.
