About the position
InGenesis is seeking a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or Auditing Clerk to support the NYS Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE) in New York, NY. The role involves managing financial records, processing payments, and handling vendor inquiries, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Handling folders physically (lifting and placing them in file cabinets)
- Filing (both physical filing and electronic records filing)
- Updating/managing daily and weekly spreadsheets
- Emailing, scanning and faxing duties
- Reviewing vouchers submitted by vendors for accuracy
- Processing payments in Finance system
- Responding to a high volume of telephone calls, voice mail messages and emails regarding vendor inquiries
- Handling incoming mail from vendors, sorting, stamping and processing finance-related information
- Reviewing vendor requested payments in Finance system and following up with Counseling staff regarding rating reports
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and Forms
- Knowledge of basic finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and data entry
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments and deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member
- Previous data entry and data validation experience
