About the position

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the financial transactions of our organization, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices and other financial obligations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and will be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record all vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Prepare and review bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Assist with payroll processing, including ensuring accurate and timely payment of employee wages.
  • Handle accounts receivable, including processing payments, issuing credit memos, and resolving any disputes.
  • Utilize accounting software, including Sage and Quicken, to maintain and manage financial records.
  • Perform data entry tasks, including typing at a rate of 10+ key strokes per minute.
  • Collaborate with other members of the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in financial records.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role within accounts payable.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Time management abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public accounting or a similar field.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial principles.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile financial accounts.
