Chroma is seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant to join our rapidly growing multi-state business in Austin, TX. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the team. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for establishing accounts, posting transactions, and developing systems to account for financial transactions. Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel is essential, as you will be maintaining subsidiary accounts, balancing the general ledger, and preparing financial reports. You will also handle payroll and basic HR duties, ensuring employee compliance with relevant regulations. This position is perfect for someone with a strong background in bookkeeping and a desire to grow within a dynamic company. The work hours are flexible, allowing for a part-time commitment initially, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time as the business grows. Responsibilities

  • Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with legal requirements related to financial transactions.
  • Develops a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
  • Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
  • Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries.
  • Maintains historical records by filing documents.
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements and enforcing adherence to them.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Handles payroll and basic HR duties such as employee compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel is a must.
