About the position

The Bookkeeper/Benefits/Payroll Specialist at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School is responsible for providing accurate financial data to support the evaluation of educational programs and services. This role involves the administration of payroll and employee benefits, ensuring compliance with municipal accounting procedures, and maintaining financial records. The position requires a high level of independence and problem-solving skills to manage various financial tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Administer employee & retiree fringe benefits, including health, dental, life, LTD, unemployment, and workers' compensation insurance
  • Process benefit deduction payments to vendors monthly
  • Perform bank statement reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records from source documents on the District's financial software
  • Prepare interim and monthly financial reports
  • Complete end-of-year closing and open new fiscal year records
  • Assist the district's independent auditor as needed
  • Prepare various State & Federal reports and issue W-2, 1099, and 1095 forms
  • Coordinate activities of other Business Office employees for timely job completions
  • File required sales and meal taxes
  • Assist in employee relations matters
  • Support and encourage Employee Assistance Programs
  • Review and implement updates to the bookkeeping system
  • Attend regional meetings related to financial records and computer operations
  • Problem solve and think outside the box
  • Apprise the Business Administrator of any operational issues
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted Municipal Accounting procedures and Fund Accounting
