About the position

Vaco has partnered with a well-established CPA firm and they have a need for a Bookkeeper. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and financial records for clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining the integrity of the firm's financial data. This is a key role within our firm, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior accounting professionals and contribute to the success of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions monthly, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Process payroll for clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Manage and track client invoices, payments, and aging reports.
  • Assist in preparing tax filings by providing necessary documentation and supporting data.
  • Assist senior accounting staff with client accounting services and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure adherence to company accounting policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation for financial transactions.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including responding to client inquiries and providing reports.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous bookkeeping experience, preferably in a CPA firm or public accounting environment.
  • Proficiency in Quick Books Online is a must.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is a plus.
  • Experience with payroll processing and tax preparation.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles specific to small businesses, non-profits, or other client sectors served by the firm.
