About the position

We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our Construction Division, located at 1565 Ocean Avenue, Bohemia, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining our financial records, which include purchases, sales, receipts, and payments to vendors and subcontractors. This role requires familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software and a general understanding of AIA billing for construction projects. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded on a weekly and monthly basis, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. In this position, the Bookkeeper will be tasked with recording all financial transactions and completing the posting process. This includes performing partial checks of the posting process, entering data, and maintaining records and reports specific to various projects. The role also involves processing accounts receivable and payable, although payroll processing is not required for this position. Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential, as the Bookkeeper will be managing important financial records and figures. The successful candidate will have proven bookkeeping experience, a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles, and the ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures. Proficiency in data entry, spreadsheets, and proprietary software is also necessary. Strong customer service orientation and negotiation skills will be beneficial in this role, as well as proficiency in English and MS Office. This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, and the salary range is between $45,000 and $61,815 per year.

Requirements

  • Proven bookkeeping experience

  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with QuickBooks (2 years preferred)
  • Associate's degree (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Spanish (preferred)
