About the position

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist in Itasca, Illinois. This role will revolve around financial management, specifically bookkeeping and payroll operations. As a Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist, you will be expected to handle a variety of tasks including managing payroll for a large number of employees and assisting with bookkeeping duties. The position requires a strong understanding of financial processes and the ability to work with various accounting software to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing payroll, and assisting with month-end close procedures. This role is crucial for the financial health of the organization and requires attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Manage payroll operations for hourly and semi-monthly employees using Intuit.
• Handle bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks.
• Assist with the completion of monthly reports and month-end close procedures.
• Perform Accounts Payable (AP) functions.
• Maintain ledger accounts and perform bank reconciliations.
• Fill in ledgers accurately and efficiently.
• Use Microsoft Excel for various financial management tasks.
• Monitor customer accounts and take necessary actions.
• Maintain accurate records and process customer credit applications.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Strong Bookkeeping skills
• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to handle Month End Close tasks
• Experience in Payroll processing
• Familiarity with QuickBooks software
• Knowledge of Ledger Accounting
