About the position

Robert Half is seeking detail-oriented Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, and Bookkeepers for their permanent Engagement team in the Indianapolis area. This unique position combines the security of a permanent role with the flexibility of a consulting lifestyle, offering a 40-hour work week while being deployed to various project-based assignments for clients. Responsibilities include year-end audits, ERP implementations, and providing support for growing organizations. The role emphasizes work/life balance and offers opportunities for skill expansion within accounting and finance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial data and create accurate reports promptly.
• Work and communicate effectively with manager-level associates.
• Conduct month-end and year-end closings.
• Perform auditing tasks as required.
• Engage in SOX internal control assessments (Section 404).
• Utilize various accounting software and ERP systems for financial reporting.
• Support clients with project-based assignments such as clean-up work and leave coverage.

Requirements

• Minimum 5-7 years of overall general accounting experience.
• BA/BS in Accounting; CPA credentials preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks and fixed asset accounting.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and social skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with a sense of urgency.
• Experience in a dynamic and changing company environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems.
• Familiarity with depreciation calculations and financial systems.
• Proficiency in financial reporting.
