The ARC Command Center Bookkeeper is responsible for processing transactions into the current Salvation Army accounting software, which includes a variety of financial tasks such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable (including check processing), Journal Entries, Purchasing/Procurement, POS Reports, Daily Sales Reconciliations, and Bank Reconciliations. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Salvation Army accounting processes and procedures. The Bookkeeper will apply accounting principles to post journal entries, analyze financial information, and prepare financial reports for the Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARC). In addition to the core accounting functions, the Bookkeeper will match store deposits to daily sales and credit card postings, process daily reconciliations for ARCs and stores, and manage Accounts Payable invoices. This includes coding, reviewing, scanning, and posting invoices, as well as filing check copies and related documents according to established procedures. The role also involves preparing various sales reports, assisting with bank reconciliations, and supporting internal audits as needed. The Bookkeeper will maintain communication with customers and the ARCC Accountant regarding open accounts receivable and will be responsible for purging paper records based on TSA records retention policies. The position requires a commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and the ability to work standard hours, with occasional overtime as needed. The work environment is typical of an office setting, and the role demands a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in handling financial data.
