About the position

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Bookkeeper in Sterling, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and performing various bookkeeping and accounting tasks. The position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as you will be managing critical financial data that impacts the overall financial health of the organization. You will utilize various bookkeeping software, including QuickBooks Online and Projul, to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently. Additionally, you will be involved in the month-end close process, ensuring that all financial data is accounted for and that the financial statements are prepared in a timely manner. As a Bookkeeper, you will also be responsible for managing payroll entries, issuing checks for payments, and ensuring that all accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) invoices are processed accurately. Your role will require you to conduct bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure that financial records are up-to-date and to prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger. You will need to demonstrate strong organizational and multitasking abilities, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) invoices
  • Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial records are up-to-date
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
  • Perform job cost duties and commission calculations as required
  • Manage payroll entries and ensure they are correctly recorded
  • Issue checks for payments and manage the outflow of capital
  • Utilize bookkeeping software, such as QuickBooks Online and Projul, to maintain financial data
  • Use Paychex and Microsoft Office for various administrative tasks
  • Ensure all financial data is entered accurately and efficiently
  • Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accounted for.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a bookkeeping role
  • Proficiency in account reconciliation
  • Experience handling accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
  • Skills in executing bank reconciliations
  • Solid understanding and experience in bookkeeping practices
  • Proficiency in data entry tasks
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in month end close procedures
  • Payroll handling experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Paychex software
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
