About the position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Full-Time Bookkeeper to manage the financial operations of our construction business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the construction industry, and be committed to maintaining accurate and organized financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the company's general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Process invoices, payments, and vendor statements in a timely manner.
  • Oversee collections and ensure that client accounts are up to date.
  • Calculate and process employee wages, including overtime, deductions, and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely submission of payroll taxes.
  • Track costs associated with construction projects to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Assist in creating and managing job budgets, ensuring profitability.
  • Prepare and file sales tax, payroll tax, and other necessary filings for the business.
  • Coordinate with external accountants for quarterly reporting and audits.
  • Provide regular financial reports and performance metrics to senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts and business planning.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure the accurate tracking of all financial transactions.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all financial documents, contracts, and other pertinent paperwork.
  • Communicate with project managers to review budgets, estimate costs, and track project expenses.

Requirements

  • Strong background in accounting, particularly within the construction industry.
  • Experience with general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and tax compliance.
  • Ability to track job costs and manage budgets effectively.
  • Experience in financial reporting and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with construction project management software.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations specific to the construction industry.
