About the position

The Bookkeeper position at American Fire Glass involves managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, along with general accounting duties. The role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely processing of payments and collections. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles, contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance team.

Responsibilities

• Generate and issue invoices to customers.
• Accurately record and apply received payments.
• Conduct collections activities to ensure timely payments.
• Verify customer credit references to assess creditworthiness.
• Enter bills into the accounting system.
• Record and process bill payments accurately and on time.
• Maintain and organize accounting documents and records.
• Assist in preparing sales tax reports.
• Cross-train to provide coverage for accounting team members.
• Perform monthly reconciliations for all accounts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with NetSuite is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Prior experience in collections is preferred.
