About the position

The Bookkeeper at the Orthopedic Center of Palm Beach County (OCPBC) is responsible for managing the financial records and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the organization, involving tasks such as handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and organized, contributing to a supportive work environment dedicated to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and on time.
  • Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts to maintain cash flow.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts monthly.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for review by management.
  • Assist with budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to generate ad hoc financial reports as needed.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and supporting documents.
  • Enter data accurately into accounting software and maintain electronic filing systems.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.
  • Support compliance with regulatory standards and company policies in financial operations.
  • Assist with preparing documents for audits and regulatory reviews as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team and other departments as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor's preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding (preferred but not required)
