About the position

Esencial Energy is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to maintain financial records, process transactions, ensure compliance, and support accounting functions. This role is crucial for the financial integrity and accuracy of the company's accounting processes, facilitating smooth operations in financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record daily financial transactions in the general ledger.
• Post, verify, and reconcile accounts to maintain balanced financial records.
• Process invoices, record payments, and manage receivables and payables.
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by posting and reconciling transactions.
• Establish and oversee different accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
• Prepare and present trial balances and other reports for review by accountants and managers.
• Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to provide insights into company finances.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and financial reporting requirements.
• Assist in processing payroll accurately and on time, coordinating with HR as necessary.
• Generate invoices, manage collections, and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Monitor cash flow and budget variances, providing regular updates and analysis to management.
• Offer advisory support on financial processes, compliance needs, and account improvements.
• Develop and refine internal bookkeeping policies, processes, and controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
• Previous bookkeeping experience in a fast-paced environment, especially within construction or contracting industries, is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online for transaction recording and job costing.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet applications).
• Knowledge of GAAP or other industry-standard accounting frameworks.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
