About the position

The Bookkeeper at RR Berk Management is responsible for overseeing financial operations and record-keeping for a high-net-worth family and associated small businesses. This role requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion, with direct reporting to family members and no external reporting obligations. The position primarily operates on-site with limited hybrid flexibility for personal schedule adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly reconciliations and categorize expenses by department for a small hospitality and entertainment business.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for management.
• Support forecasting efforts to guide business planning.
• Maintain the general ledger with accurate entries for business transactions.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a family-owned management company, tracking all financial transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Handle record-keeping for a family-run exposition held in Chicago, IL, including preparing event-specific financial reports and managing event budgets.
• Maintain confidential and accurate records for the family's personal finances.
• Summarize information from estate attorneys, investment advisors, CPAs, and other consultants, providing clear reporting to the family.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping, personal finance, or accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience working collaboratively with external advisors such as CPAs and attorneys.
