About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, with experience in analyzing financial data, preparing journal entries, and reconciling accounts. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing support to management in financial decision-making. In this role, you will prepare and review financial documents, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. You will conduct thorough account analysis to identify discrepancies and trends in financial data. Performing journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations with high accuracy will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will utilize accounting software, such as Sage and QuickBooks, to record and manage financial transactions, and maintain a comprehensive and organized general ledger, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date. Additionally, you will provide financial reports and statements to management and other stakeholders, ensure compliance with all accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls, and assist in the preparation of tax returns and other financial reports as needed. Collaboration with other departments to ensure accurate financial information and the development and implementation of efficient and effective financial processes and procedures will also be part of your duties. You may be required to perform other duties as necessary to support the financial operations of the organization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including Sage and QuickBooks.
  • Excellent typing skills, with the ability to accurately and efficiently enter financial data.
  • Experience with journal entries and account analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial principles and practices, including accounting standards and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with general ledger reconciliation and bank reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with Quicken or other accounting software is an asset.
