As a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service that is friendly, genuine, and professional. Your primary focus will be to prioritize the customers' needs above all else, ensuring that their shopping experience is engaging and interactive. You will enthusiastically share your knowledge of books, whether in person or over the phone, assisting customers in selecting new books or special gifts. Your passion for bookselling will shine through as you create enticing displays that are neat, tidy, and vibrant, making the store inviting for customers. You will also have opportunities to demonstrate your initiative and love for books and people through various tasks, including creating inspiring displays and participating in special events. In this role, you will support the cluster structure and work collaboratively with your team to enhance the overall experience across all stores in the cluster. You can expect to earn an hourly rate starting at $18.00. Your responsibilities will include creating a welcoming environment for customers, ensuring the bookstore is vibrant and well-presented, leveraging key campaigns to engage customers, continuously educating yourself about books and the industry, and communicating with your team about merchandise selection tailored to the community. You will also be responsible for maintaining a neat store, assisting with events and community outreach, and protecting company assets by adhering to processes that control shrink, expenses, and payroll. Physical activity is required, including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and climbing, as you work on the selling floor and in the Café when needed.
