About the position

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Bookseller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for literature and a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a Bookseller, you will play a vital role in creating an inviting atmosphere for customers, assisting them in finding the perfect books, and promoting our store's offerings.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand their preferences and recommend books based on their interests.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently, handling cash transactions and processing payments accurately.
• Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring that books are properly shelved and displays are well-stocked.
• Assist with inventory management, including receiving shipments, stocking shelves, and conducting regular inventory counts.
• Supervise junior staff members when necessary, providing guidance and support in their roles.
• Utilize basic math skills to ensure accurate cash handling and register operations.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members, fostering a positive shopping experience.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong cash handling skills and familiarity with POS systems are essential.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.
• Basic math skills for accurate cash transactions.
• A genuine interest in books and reading is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Supervisory experience is a plus but not required.
