The Maintenance Mechanic at Boston Whaler plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and equipment. This position involves performing general maintenance tasks that support production requirements, which includes analyzing and repairing mechanical issues related to fork trucks, air compressors, and piping systems. The role also encompasses the repair and maintenance of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) equipment, as well as the fabrication of wood and steel items. A significant part of the job is troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including motor controls and lighting circuits, while adhering to technical manuals and code requirements. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining accurate maintenance records and completing necessary paperwork associated with maintenance activities. Additionally, the role includes addressing environmental issues and maintaining the grounds, along with janitorial responsibilities as needed. The position may require performing other duties as necessary to support the team and the overall operations of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance of facilities and equipment to support production requirements.
  • Analyze and repair mechanical problems associated with fork trucks, air compressors, and piping systems.
  • Repair and maintain FRP equipment.
  • Fabricate wood and steel items as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motor controls and lighting circuits.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Address environmental issues related to maintenance activities.
  • Maintain the grounds and perform facility cleaning and janitorial responsibilities.
  • May perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training in mechanical/electrical field or maintenance mechanics required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems/equipment in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/schematics.
  • PC based software experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect.
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English.
