About the position
The Assistant Basketball Coach at Derby High School is responsible for supporting the head coach in training and developing student-athletes in the sport of basketball. This role involves assisting with practice planning, game strategy, and fostering a positive team environment. The position is a full-time contract role, requiring in-person attendance at the school.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting basketball practices.
- Support the development of student-athletes' skills and teamwork.
- Help with game strategy and preparation for competitions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff.
Requirements
- Experience in sports coaching, particularly basketball.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Knowledge of basketball rules and strategies.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher.
- First aid and CPR certification.
