About the position

The Brain Injury Community Support Specialist role at Community Workforce Solutions focuses on providing individualized support to veterans and individuals with traumatic brain injuries. The position aims to empower clients by helping them engage with their communities, set personal goals, and access necessary resources. The specialist will facilitate activities that promote independence and social reintegration, while also advocating for the clients' needs and choices.

Responsibilities

• Provides functional supports on an individualized basis.
• Creates goals to assist with acquiring, retaining, and improving skills necessary to reside as independently as possible.
• Facilitates sessions that improve upon goals while accessing a variety of community-based resources.
• Helps individuals reintegrate and reconnect with their communities to encourage a healthy level of independence.
• Provides positive support and advocates for the client.
• Assists and guides clients in identifying choices and making informed decisions regarding their activities and life.
• Completes daily and other necessary documentation in compliance with CARF and agency policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a human service field or equivalent experience considered in lieu of education.
• Ability to obtain the CBIS certification within the first year (paid by CWS).
• Experience with veterans or military culture and/or knowledge of brain injuries is preferred.
