About the position

The Brain Injury Res Counselor position at Eliot Community Human Services involves advocating for community supports and services for individuals with brain injuries. The role focuses on providing individualized community-based services to enhance the quality of life and promote independence among survivors of brain injury. The counselor will assist in daily operations of a group home, implement Individual Support Plans, and support individuals in their daily living activities while fostering community integration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of a group home for individuals with developmental disabilities and/or brain injury.
  • Provide a safe living environment for all individuals and implement crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Participate in the implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP).
  • Provide support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and other physical needs of individuals being served.
  • Write and maintain all documentation related to individuals' treatment plans and program operations in an organized and timely manner.
  • Assist individuals in being fully integrated into their communities by supporting them in the use of community resources and encouraging them to establish memberships within their communities.
  • Reduce stigma within the community through education.
  • Actively participate in supervision, staff meetings, in-services, and trainings.
  • Transport individuals to day programs, appointments, and activities as needed.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience working with intellectually disabled or brain-injured adults.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid MA Driver's License.
