About the position

The Brake Press Helper position at Baltimore Aircoil Company involves assisting in parts fabrication and material movement within the Sheet Metal team. The Mechanic III will work closely with Senior Mechanics and is expected to meet production goals while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Own personal and team safety by observing all safety rules and using proper safety equipment.
• Assist Senior Mechanics in completing fabricated parts safely and with quality.
• Perform functions as a Press Brake Helper, including preventive maintenance and programming simple parts.
• Assist in sharpening dies and CNC tooling.
• Help maintain equipment in good operating condition.
• Meet daily production goals as assigned by the Team Leader or Station Leader.
• Replenish supplies and other consumables as needed.
• Actively learn skills necessary to become a world-class mechanic.
• Follow all safety requirements regarding tools and PPE.
• Acquire skills to support the highest quality standards.
• Flex to other areas as needed to demonstrate teamwork and commitment to success.
• Perform all other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic fractional calculations.
• Competent in reading blueprints and reference drawings.
• Skilled in using critical measurement equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
• Knowledge of sheet metal quality standards and customer expectations.
• Ability to perform first part quality checks.
• Safe operation of material handling equipment including pallet jacks and jib cranes.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Basics and 5S standards.
• Understanding of safety requirements associated with tasks.
