About the position

The Brake Press Operator position at Baltimore Aircoil Company involves operating major and secondary equipment in the sheet metal department, ensuring efficient production and adherence to safety and quality standards. The operator is expected to contribute to a culture of safety, sustainability, and innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one major piece of equipment to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Assist and train junior mechanics as needed.
  • Continuously develop skills to operate multiple workstations.
  • Meet or exceed production goals for the shift.
  • Execute workload in line with department scrap reduction goals.
  • Uphold and support quality and process standards consistently.
  • Responsible for daily and weekly maintenance procedure checklist sign-off.
  • Commit to achieving departmental safety goals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the department.
  • Fulfill the role of senior mechanic in their absence.
  • Ensure activities support sustainability and reduce environmental impact.
  • Support a culture of innovation and process improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified in operating major equipment such as Talos, Laser, CNC, or Press Brake.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate secondary equipment in the Sheet Metal Department.
  • Competence in BAC quality procedures and processes.
  • Good knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Competent writing skills for documenting processes and communicating professionally.
  • Strong oral communication skills for effective interaction with customers and co-workers.
  • Competent in basic math skills including fractions and decimals.
  • Good overall knowledge of BAC products.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Understanding of LEAN principles including 5S and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Familiarity with procedures, policies, and standard work instructions for the area.
  • Computer skills for accessing instructions and forms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
